The Hikers Finished

I've finished The Hikers by Heritage Stitchcraft!

As expected, I struggled with row upon row of the same colour in the sky, but I persevered, and it's done...

My eldest daughter and her boyfriend have just left for their train back to Cardiff.  It has been lovely seeing them, but my immobility really got on my nerves!  We've arranged to go down to see them for the May Bank Holiday, when I should be fully mobile again...

Happy Stitching!

Progress...

I've been working on two pieces this week - one is a model stitch, so can't show it here, and the other is The Hikers.  Progress has therefore been slower, but I'm still on course for finishing The Hikers at the weekend:

I need to frog the extra stitch on the left hand side...but it looks like I need to redo the whole row, due to how I stitched it originally!

I've joined a SAL, through Facebook, to stitch on One Nation.  I have got this in my UFO box, and thought it would give me the incentive to finish it!  The SAL starts on Monday, and this is how it looks now:

I was at the hospital again on Tuesday about my ankle.  I now have a leg brace on for the next 3 weeks:

It seems to support my ankle better than the cast was doing at the end, but I have to take it off at night and this causes pain when I'm moving around in bed...I'm also off work for another 3 weeks, which I'm not too happy about.  I'm usually a very busy person, rarely in the house, and this enforced rest is driving me crazy!

My son is home for the holidays, and my daughter is coming up from Cardiff tonight with her boyfriend to spend Easter with us.  It's going to be a very full house, but then there will be more people to help with things around the house (I wish!).

Happy Easter!

And for my next trick...

I've picked out Heritage Stitchcraft's "The Hikers" from my seemingly bottomless UFO box...I think I've got about 20 more unfinished pieces, some of which I doubt I'll finish for a while!  However, as this was a kit, I thought I'd work on this for the next week.

This is how it looked before I started stitching on it today:

and this is how it looks now:

I'm hoping to get this finished this week, but there are some large areas of one colour - which I'm not too keen on - but will persevere with it!

My son has come home from Uni for the Easter break today.  His hair has grown quite long, so I'll have to try and encourage him to get it cut!  He's home for about 2 weeks, and my eldest daughter is coming up from Cardiff with her boyfriend for the Easter weekend...I have no idea where I'm going to put everyone...

I'm at the hospital on Tuesday to see the Fracture Clinic about my ankle.  They told me that I'd either have to have another cast on, or change to a moonboot...Either way, I'm probably still going to be off work for another week or two...We'll see what happens... :-S

Happy Stitching!

And Another...

After just a few hours stitching, I've finished Heritage Stitchcraft's map of Lancashire:

It only needed a few additions, including the heading, but it had been in my UFO box for several years...

Here's a better picture of the L&L piece I finished yesterday:

I'm going to have a look in my UFO box for my next finish!!! :-)

Happy Stitching!

Happy Dance!

It's finished!  L&L's "In the Arms of an Angel is finally finished, after a year or two in my UFO box...and it's only taken 6 days to do it...

Not a great picture - took it with my phone, with the stitching on my lap, so not the best!  I'll take a better picture when I'm mobile again.

Now...what shall I finish next..?

Good Progress

I'm so happy with the progress I've made on L&L's "In the Arms of an Angel" this week:

All I need to do now is the 1-over-1 work on the baby's head, and then she will be finished!  On track for finishing her by the end of the weekend...and then I'll have to pick another UFO out of my box to do next week...

Wow!

I can't believe I've not been on here for almost a year!  Mind you, things have changed dramatically in that time, so I have had other things on my mind...

As far as stitching is concerned, I haven't been as enthusiastic as normal.  I did stitch some things:

LHN Needlebook and...

LHN Scissor Keep, stitched as a commission...

Lanarte Pecking Order - my completed RR piece

Margaret Sherry's Calendar Cats - November, stitched for Tina's RR

Mirabilia's Fairy Moon, stitched as part of a Mirabilia RR

Mirabilia's Scent of Roses, stitched as part of a Mirabilia RR

Mirabilia's Maidens of the Seasons (Spring), stitched as part of a Mirabilia RR

I've obviously spent a lot of time on Round Robins and commission pieces!  However, I picked up L&L's "In the Arms of an Angel" again yesterday, with the intention of finishing her by next weekend...

Here she is as she was when I got her out of my UFO box:

And as she was when I'd finished the bit of stitching I did yesterday:
I hope I'll have finished her by the weekend - it's the 1 over 1 work on the baby's head that will take the most time...

As far as other things are concerned, well...I'm no longer working as a teacher.  I lost my job last summer, due to budget cuts, and decided to get out of teaching while I had the opportunity.  The amount of pressure, stress and criticism isn't worth it - my health comes first!  I did a bit of supply teaching from September 'til the beginning of December, when I was given an administration post at a company that provides work-based qualifications, apprenticeships, work experience, and school-based sessions on employability skills.  I love working there, even though I have taken a massive pay cut, and I am going to be extending my work to other aspects as time goes on.

The only problem is that I broke my ankle two weeks ago, whilst walking along the street!  I stumbled, and felt my foot going too far out.  I went to A&E, where they told me it was broken...This has resulted in at least 3 weeks off work, a lovely pot on my leg:
and the inability to do many things for myself...driving, taking a shower, walking up and downstairs, making a meal and simply trying to walk whilst holding something other than crutches have become impossible!  However, the determination to get fit once I'm fully mobile again is becoming very strong...I will never take such simple things for granted again!  The only (and I mean only!) good thing about my enforced convalescence is that I can focus on my stitching for a while...

Happy Stitching!
